Summer Publication Competition Archive

Every summer since the days of past-Chair Dan Myers, the Department of Sociology has hosted a "Get stuff done" competition among faculty and graduate students. Although the rules of the game have evolved over time, the basic goal remains: to encourage faculty and graduate students to make the most out of their quieter summer months and publish their research.

In recent years, teams of faculty and graduate students have formed around the three Centers in the Sociology department. The Center for the Study of Religion and Society vs. the Center for Research in Educational Opportunities vs. the Center for the Study of Social Movements and Social Change.

Summer writing has proven very productive with over 84% participation in 2010.
